Sons of Eden have carved a name for themselves as producers of premium South Australian wines and continue to make waves with these exciting new releases. The winery takes it name from winemakers Corey Ryan and Simon Cowham, who both learnt their trades in the vineyards and cellars of Eden Valley and this is showstopper Shiraz from one of the hottest winemaking teams in the Barossa. They absolutely nail the modern Barossa style - bringing refinement and subtle textures into focus without losing the plush, opulent fruit weight that the Barossa has built its reputation on. Fruit is sourced from 20-80 year old vines and that heritage shows through loud and clear.
If you're a fan of premium Barossa Shiraz, this is joy in a glass. We are besotted with it. Get involved.
James Halliday writes "Top 100 Wines of 2022. A smooth, supple medium-bodied wine is the result, with plum and blackberry fruits, integrated oak and tannins. Value-plus."
James Suckling writes "Another top shiraz with lead-pencil and graphite character to the dark fruit. Full-bodied and tight with firm tannins that run the length of the wine. Finishes with lead-pencil shavings. Very unique."
Natalie Earl, Decanter writes "Sons of Eden consistently produce well-loved, high-scoring wines. This Barossa Valley Shiraz is no exception - it's a well-made, sophisticated wine, deep and dark in the glass. It's alive with sweet cassis and cherry drops, intense black fruit, spicy plum and mocha. A real powerhouse of a wine that's elevated by lovely mouthwatering acidity."
The winery writes "Dense garnet in colour, with an alluring mix of red-licorice, spiced plum and white chocolate aromas. The palate is rich, rounded and intensely flavoured, finishing with a robust vitality. Delicious drinking upon release but will mature very well for the medium to longer term."
