Zagare Vermentino is a vibrant and expressive white from Sicily’s sun soaked west coast, where vineyards benefit from the cooling influence of sea breezes and reflected light off the Mediterranean. Named after the delicate white blossoms of the lemon tree, this wine captures the coastal charm and aromatic lift that Vermentino is known for.
Fermented in stainless steel and aged briefly on fine lees, the 2023 vintage opens with aromas of ripe stone fruit, preserved lemon and citrus blossom, alongside subtle hints of spice. The palate is layered and textured, showing flavours of grapefruit pith and citrus peel, underpinned by fresh acidity and a fine mineral thread.
There’s a savoury edge here too, with a gentle saltiness that speaks of the sea. A lightly honeyed feel builds on the finish, evoking lemon marmalade and adding complexity to the crisp, dry structure.
