Yalumba Samuel's Collection Bush Vine Grenache is the boss's new favourite sub$25 Barossa red - a wonderfully middleweight wine that is loaded with personality and soft, slurpy, easy drinking charm. Think of it like a cross between gutsy Central Otago Pinot Noir and lush Barossa Shiraz and you're on the right track.
It's a richly flavoured style but more in the savoury red fruit spectrum - so it provides a lovely counterpoint to the blockbusters the Barossa is best know for. If you're looking for a general purpose red that stands out from the pack but is a sure fire winner, this is one of the safest bets in the market.

Candice Chow, Raymond Chan Wine Reviews writes "Bright, deep ruby-red, lighter on the rim. The nose is soft and filled with red berry, cherry and subtle spice aromas. Medium-bodied, bright red berry, cherry and blackcurrant aromas entwined with milk chocolate and cinnamon. The mouthfeel is smooth with supple tannin, and juicy acidity carries spice to a sustained finish. This Grenache is beautifully assembled by succulent red fruit, subtle complexity and depth of fruit on a smooth palate. Match with roasted goose and pork over the next 5 years."
