95/100 'Outstanding' | Cameron Douglas MS
From acclaimed Hawke’s Bay winemaker Tony Bish comes a commanding expression of Chardonnay - the 2024 Two Terraces. Sourced exclusively from the revered Two Terraces Vineyard in the cool-climate Mangatahi sub-region, this single vineyard wine captures elegance, power, and precision in every glass.
Crafted from hand-picked fruit and whole bunch-pressed to extract only the purest free-run juice, the wine is fermented in a selection of new and seasoned French oak barriques, imbuing it with nuanced complexity and textural finesse. The bouquet is lifted and aromatic, unfurling with culinary herbs, citrus blossom, vanilla bean, hazelnut, and ripe white peach. Subtle oak spice weaves through, adding dimension and allure. On the palate, it's intense and richly layered, offering a luxurious creamy mouthfeel that gives way to driving acidity and impressive length. Lingering flavours of crème brûlée, green apple, and lemon meringue leave a lasting impression, promising further reward with careful cellaring over the next 6 to 10 years.

Sam Kim, Wine Orbit writes "The beautifully composed and inviting bouquet presents aromas of golden peach, citrus peel, roasted hazelnut, and a hint of vanilla. This leads to a rich palate that offers intense fruit flavours and stylish complexity. The wine is velvety, with a fine oak infusion and excellent acidity, making it hugely appealing. At its best: now to 2036."
Cameron Douglas MS writes "Once opened and poured, please leave this wine in glass for around 10-15 minutes, it needs to relax and open out to show where the rush of complexity and style comes from. Scents of citrus, fruits spice, baked apple and fine lees envelop the palate with intrigue and curiosity, after 15 minutes on glass the scents of white flowers and a light cheesy quality with subtle barrel spices begin to show. Dry, complex, textured and lengthy, a wine with complexity and charm, personality and finesse. Taut and dry with best drinking from mid 2026 through 2032+."
Candice Wine Chat writes "A single-vineyard wine from the reputable Two Terraces vineyard in Mangatahi, 100% Mendoza clone, barrel-fermented and aged in Taransaud barriques. The result, a refined, well-structured Chardonnay features pristine fruit, detailed spice and precision."
The winery writes "Lifted aromas of fresh cut culinary herbs, white flowers, lavender and lemon curd, with nuances of nutty spicy oak. As the wine opens, aromas of hazelnut, lilac, jasmine, white peach and orange blossom emerge. The palate is super intense and beautifully defined. Complex fruit aromas mingle with savoury depth, as the palate is driven by bright citrus line and length. The tightness and power to the finish is outstanding. There is a delightfully fine texture, beautiful acid thread and super fine phenolics on the finish. Power, intensity, elegance and grace. Cellar 6-12 years."
