A GREAT REPRESENTATION OF QUALITY GIMBLETT GRAVELS SYRAH
93/100 'Excellent' | Cameron Douglas MS
The Crofters label traces back to Stonecroft founders Dr Alan Limmer and his wife Glennice, who established Stonecroft Wines in 1982. In 2024, the Stonecroft brand was welcomed into the Fistonich Family Vineyards portfolio, with the Crofters label continuing as a tribute to its origins.
The Stonecroft Crofters Syrah 2024 is generous, beautifully balanced and packed with warm, savoury spice. Dark berry fruit leads the way, followed by a smooth, gently spiced finish that keeps you coming back for another sip. It’s polished without being fussy - a confidently made syrah that’s just as good with food as it is on its own.

Cameron Douglas MS writes "Distinctive purple and ruby hues with a pink rim lead to a bouquet that takes a little while to open up, I recommend decanting, when it does there’s a flourish of violets and blackcurrant then Doris plums and smoke spices of barrels and earth. A dry wine on the palate with a firm, youthful palate led by a tautness and drive from the acidity and tannins then core currant and red stone fruit flavours that mirror the bouquet. Vibrant, fresh and delicious, a wine that should be cellared with best drinking from mid to late 2027 through 2034."
The winery writes "Our Crofters Syrah is a medium bodied red with a smooth mouthfeel and soft tannins. The wine has black fruit flavours with blackberry, blackcurrant and cherry plus a touch of pepper."
