Pegasus Bay feature in any conversation of New Zealand's finest producers, and the Donaldson family have been producing wine in Waipara since the 1970s. Located in North Canterbury, Waipara is one of New Zealand's smallest but fastest growing wine regions, and with warm days and cool nights, it's the perfect home for premium pinot. It's not hard to see why this superb Pinot Noir has gained such rave reviews, and whilst drinking excellently now, this bottle-aged beauty will continue to cellar for years to come.

Cameron Douglas MS writes "Fabulous bouquet of red berries, plums and raspberry, sweeter barrel scents and toasty wood spices of clove, vanilla and nutmeg. On the palate a delicious wine with core textures of chalky tannins and lively acid line. Fruit flavours remain primary and mirror the bouquet. Oak is integrating well still needing some cellar time to complete that phase. A complex, dry and vibrant wine with best drinking from 2023 through 2033."
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit writes "Gracefully seductive and gloriously opulent, showing dark berry, roasted nut, charcuterie and forest floor characters on the nose, followed by a multi-layered palate exhibiting awesome depth as well as expansive mouthfeel. Seamless and plush, making it hugely appealing. At its best: now to 2030."
Nick Stock writes "The refinement and brilliance of the fruit on offer here really sets this wine apart from the regular Pegasus Bay pinot noir. Deliciously rich dark cherry aromas and flavors are presented amid silky, refined and long-form tannins. A great wine, in every respect."
The winery writes "Its colour is deep ruby shot with flecks of amber. The aromas and flavours evoke impressions of black cherries, purple plums, wild blackberries and mulberries. Extended time in bottle has also given the wine a pronounced savoury dimension suggestive of roast game, grilled mushrooms and black olive tapenade. There is a layer of velvety tannins that coat and refine its big body and taut muscular structure, helping to draw out its lingering aftertaste of chocolate mocha and spice."
