Family-owned and widely regarded as one of New Zealand’s most respected wineries, Pegasus Bay is known for producing richly expressive wines that reflect the unique character of the Waipara Valley. Founded by the Donaldson family, the estate combines meticulous vineyard management with a hands-off winemaking philosophy, allowing each variety and vintage to speak clearly of place.
Perfumed and finely structured, this cab franc shows the elegance the variety can achieve in Waipara. Aromas of dark cherry, blackberry and plum are layered with lifted floral notes, dried herbs and a touch of spice. The palate is silky yet vibrant, with fine tannins and fresh acidity framing the fruit and carrying through to a long, savoury finish.

The winery writes "It has a dark scarlet hue, tending crimson towards the edges. The richly scented nose has impressions of red berries, interlaced with wood spice, cinnamon, violet and earthy hints of herbs. In the mouth there is a sense of brightness and vitality, with succulent fruit intensity supported by fine grained tannins and a core of zippy acidity, adding elegance and structure on the long, flavoursome close."
