96/100 | Wine Showcase
95/100 | Ken Gargett - "Will drink wonderfully over the next decade."
This outstanding single vineyard shiraz is our second ultra-premium Mystery release from one of McLaren Vale’s most respected producers (the other one is here). Carefully crafted from vines planted in 1972, this is a wine built on heritage, precision and exceptional craftsmanship. With 96 and 95pt third-party acclaim along with 2x Gold Medals, it is abundantly clear that this wine was definitely not intended to sell for $44.99.
This is a beautifully composed, structured and deeply aromatic shiraz with waves of dark fruit, clove, vanillin oak, florals and savoury complexity. Plush, polished and irresistibly smooth, the palate shows superb weight, finishing long, even and effortlessly refined.

Sam Kim, Wine Orbit writes "Powerfully expressed with sophistication, it's perfumed on the nose with dark fruit richness, vanillin oak, clove and floral aromas. The richly stacked palate displays outstanding weight and plush texture with seamlessly woven tannins, finishing superbly long and gratifying." 96pts.
Ken Gargett writes "A fine single vineyard shiraz. Deep magenta in colour, the nose gives us briary notes and dried herbs, bay leaves and black cherries. Plush and subtle, this is finely balanced and exhibiting serious length. It will drink wonderfully over the next decade." 95pts.
The winery writes "Old vine McLaren Vale Shiraz at its best. This wine displays aromas of bright summer berries and red cherry with hints of dark chocolate and oak derived spice. A rich and generous palate, with fine grained tannins providing balance and mouth-watering persistence."
