Millton's Clos de St Anne series have a rightful position at the very pinnacle of Gisborne wine production and this limited release is a bespoke wine that has clearly been made for the cellar. The range is a celebration of a special vineyard site and meticulous winemaking and is only made in vintages when conditions are absolutely perfect.
This 2020 viognier is a stunning release. It's bright and floral with gorgeous texture and complexity coming from barrel ageing and malolactic fermentation. Drink now or tuck away for a few years.
The winery writes "This vintage has the saline structure of sake with aromas of caramel, baked pears apple tart and warm leather, a hint of fennel and aniseed. Think Umami. The texture gives warmth to these aromas, like walking on a crunchy shingle pathway through a flower garden on a summers’ afternoon. The taste is velvet smooth with a tannin grip showing beautiful harmony across the phenolic structure."
