93/100 | Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review
Millton's Clos de St Anne series have a rightful position at the very pinnacle of Gisborne wine production and this limited release is a bespoke wine that has clearly been made for the cellar. The range is a celebration of a special vineyard site and meticulous winemaking and is only made in vintages when conditions are absolutely perfect.
The 2008 Clos De St Anne Syrah presents a moderately deep colour, hinting at both vibrancy and concentration. On the nose, it unfolds with classic cool-climate Syrah aromatics: lifted floral notes of violets, a dusting of white pepper, and a core of bright red fruit, all seamlessly layered with subtle spicy oak. A wine that balances density with finesse, showing the hallmarks of a restrained and beautifully expressive syrah. Limited stocks.

Bob Campbell MW writes "Moderately deep colour. Quite dense Syrah with floral/violets, white pepper, red fruit and spicy oak flavours. Juicy wine with layers of flavour that impress. It’s certainly close to the cool end of the physiological ripeness spectrum which gives an edgy vibrance to the wine that I like."
