Named after winemaker Dave Mackintosh's great grandmother, Annabella Mackenzie, Kenzie Wines is a celebration of contemporary winemaking. After fifteen years crafting acclaimed wines in Victoria’s Yarra Valley under the Arfion and Salo labels, Dave felt the pull of home, returning to Aotearoa to create distinctive, modern wines from the expressive soils of Hawke’s Bay.
Made from 100% Clone 15 Chardonnay and bottled unfined and unfiltered, this Mangatahi Chardonnay a wine that speaks clearly of place and variety, showcasing balance, texture and a beautiful sense of restraint. The nose is lifted and refined with flint, citrus, chamomile and white stonefruit, while the palate is crunchy, chalky and textural, layered with flavours of Granny Smith apple, light toast and grapefruit zest. A line of brilliant acidity drives everything forward, bringing freshness and energy to the long, lingering finish.
