EXCELLENT MONTEPULCIANO FROM CELEBRATED WINEMAKER ANT MACKENZIE
"Beautifully ripe and inviting... a juicy palate that's sillky and flowing" | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
RECOMMENDED | Cuisine Magazine
Winemaker Ant Mackenzie sits at the top table of Hawkes Bay winemakers and his partnership with well-known distributor Jeannine McCallum has seen the birth of the exciting Cognoscente range. We love everything about this wine. We love the super cool retro labels. We love the signature Ant Mackenzie generous winemaking. And we love the sheer value for money that this montepulciano offers discerning buyers.
The 2021 Cognoscente Montepulciano is a real crowd-pleaser. The palate is ripe and juicy, sitting firmly in the red fruit spectrum, with silky texture and effortless flow. Plush yet elegant, it finishes dry with a gentle savoury edge that keeps you coming back for another sip. An excellent representation of Kumeu Montepulciano, a variety seldom seen in New Zealand, and is a very smart wine in this price range.

Sam Kim, Wine Orbit writes "It's beautifully ripe and inviting on the nose with Black Doris plum, wild strawberry, mixed spice and toasted almond notes, leading to a juicy palate that's silky and flowing to an elegantly dry finish. At its best: now to 2027."
