91/100 | Bob Campbell MW
Blackenbrook are a small, family-run winery in the Nelson region. They take a 'quality over quantity' approach to winemaking and, as well as being an accredited sustainable winegrowing producer, most of their wines are also unfined and vegan.
Their 2021 chardonnay is bursting with pineapple flavours and toasty oak characters. Aged in barrels and with partial malo fermentation, this is an elegant, mouthfilling wine. Highly recommended.

The winery writes "Bright, classy and immensely satisfying. The twelve months in barrel have only enhanced the fruity punch of pineapple, peach, and grapefruit all balanced to a fine richness that lasts on the palate."
