Blackenbrook are a small, family-run winery in the Nelson region. They take a 'quality over quantity' approach to winemaking and, as well as being an accredited sustainable winegrowing producer, most of their wines are also unfined and vegan.
Their 2019 chardonnay is bursting with pineapple flavours and toasty oak characters. Aged in barrels and with partial malo fermentation, this is an elegant, mouthfilling wine. Highly recommended.
Yvonne Lorkin writes "Bright roasted peach and pineapple on the nose combine with toasted almond and creme caramel characters to create a seductively sippable chardonnay that’s juicy and soothing and rewarding. Fresh, frisky and stacked with stonefruit. Delicious!"
The winery writes "After twelve months barrel ageing, this is a rich Chardonnay with layers of pineapple, bran biscuit and sweet oak. It impresses with its untamed power and length."
