This is an excellent example of Hawke's Bay Chenin Blanc and it's good to see this relatively rare variety put to such good use. Expect to see the tropical flavours that chenin is so well known for balanced with a fine line of fresh acidity that keeps everything in check. This wine is dry but certainly not austere.
A subtle saline edge brings a refreshing lift to its mouth-filling, textural palate - the result of careful overnight skin soaking and gentle foot crushing to tease out complex phenolics before whole bunch pressing into traditional Tinajas (amphorae) and seasoned large puncheons. Unfined, unfiltered and free of additives from vine to bottle, this is chenin blanc in its most honest form. Another exciting, harmonious release from talented winemaker, Amy Farnsworth.
This is a natural wine - don't be worried if there is a bit of sediment at the bottom or if it's bit cloudy, that's how it's supposed to be!
