93/100 'Excellent' | Cameron Douglas MS
This is rich and complex viognier from a respected Hawkes Bay producer. Alpha Domus have a real affinity with this varietal and this expression maintains the silken texture and apricot and citrus flavours that viognier fans adore but brings some extra weight and underlying power into play. Given those extra dimensions it will come as no surprise that we have a rock solid following for this release.

Cameron Douglas MS writes "Fragrant and aromatic with scents of spice and fine lees, floral and nicely complex, nothing overdone. White and yellow apricot then red apple and a seam of peach. A dry wine with a satin texture and filling mouthfeel, flavours of white fleshed fruits and apricot, a leesy spice and generous complexity. Balanced and well made, tautness and youthful ensure some cellar time available if desired. Best drinking from late 2026/early 2027 through 2030+."
The winery writes "Planted in 2006, our handpicked viognier showcases varietal purity with perfumed floral aromas of white flowers and stone fruit. The palate is delectable, with a silky texture and lingering dry finish. A beautiful compliment to risotto, white meats, or delightful as an aperitif. Vegan friendly."
