FIVE STARS 95/100 | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit - "Richly fruited and gorgeously expressed."

AC Wines is the personal project of renowned New Zealand winemaker Alwyn Corban and his son Abraham — a continuation of one of the country’s most historic winemaking legacies. With over a century of family heritage and a commitment to thoughtful, small-batch production, AC Wines represents the Corban family’s deep-rooted passion for craft, place, and purpose.
Handpicked from low-yielding vines planted in 2004 on the sun-drenched western side of Te Mata, this beautifully crafted Viognier is a benchmark expression of the variety. Meticulous winemaking, including whole bunch pressing and barrel fermentation, has yielded a wine of richness, complexity, and poise.
The aromatic bouquet bursts with ripe apricot, mango, vanilla, roasted cashew and delicate spice, setting the stage for a palate that’s plush, full-bodied, and seamlessly balanced by fresh acidity. It’s deeply flavoursome and gorgeously textured, luxurious yet vibrant to the final sip.

Sam Kim, Wine Orbit writes "Richly fruited and gorgeously expressed, the bouquet shows ripe apricot, mango, vanilla, cashew, and subtle spice aromas, leading to a wonderfully weighted palate offering plush texture backed by beautifully pitched acidity. Splendidly flavoursome and highly enjoyable. At its best: now to 2030."
Cameron Douglas MS writes "Fragrant, floral, ripe and fruity bouquet, the classic aromatics of Viognier are showcased with scents and flavours of yellow flowers and apricots, there’s a gentle spice quality linked to the florals then a dry stone mineral quality. On the palate too there’s a fine phenolic texture stretching mouthfeel throughout the palate accentuated by acidity and a satin-cream touch. Well made with decent length and finish."
