FIVE STARS 95/100 | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit - "Excellent depth and persistence... harmonious and refined"
The Loom is a local surfer term for the best wave of the day and this is celebrated winemaker Rod McDonald's flagship chardonnay from his Te Awanga vineyards. It is a typically coastal style with citrus and stone-fruit aromas combined with lovely brioche and spice complexity and a touch of minerality on the palate. This small batch, limited release is quite the powerhouse and is sure to impress anyone who enjoys premium Hawkes Bay Chardonnay. We are stoked to have been allocated a parcel of this special wine. It comes with our highest recommendation.

Sam Kim, Wine Orbit writes "Elegant and stylish with gorgeous complexity, the wine shows ripe peach, rockmelon, vanilla, hazelnut, and almond meal characters with a touch of flinty note. It's concentrated and wonderfully structured on the palate, delivering excellent depth and persistence. Harmonious and refined with alluring flavours."
The winery writes "A typical coastal Chardonnay with citrus, stonefruit and lemon zest aromas combined with toasty biscotti and light spice. It’s textural with a minerality and tightness, promising a long life and gathering complexity."
