Chateau Garage is the exciting small batch project of Ollie Powrie - former Head Viticulturist for Villa Maria and well known character on the Hawke's Bay wine scene. Few people have such impeccable grower contacts as Ollie so Chateau Garage was always going to be blessed with great fruit - and these releases mark an auspicious debut from a 'micro-brand' that is well worth watching.

With fruit hand-harvested from the oldest vines on the legendary Lyon's Vineyard in Bridge Pa, this superbly elegant and refined chardonnay is about as premium and small batch as they come. An exceptional wine from a talented producer.

The winery writes "Hand harvested from the legendary Lyon's vineyard in Hawke's Bay. A field blend of Mendoza, Clone 15 and Clone 95 Chardonnay. 12 months in a mix of new and seasoned French oak barrels (70% new). Intense summer peach, citrus and roasted almonds, a lovely rich and complex palate."

Stephen Wong MW, The Real Review, writes "Sweet and smoky patchouli aromas announce this distinctively musky chardonnay. The palate is accessible and expressive with light-weight honeydew melon, creamy hazelnut and roasted almond flavours woven into abundant vanilla oak. A forward yet elegant expression for pleasurable drinking in the near-term, or let it develop into an elegant though lighter wine with nutty complexity"
