FIVE STARS 94/100 | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit - "Silky-smooth palate that's succulent and velvety. Hamronious and complex."
91/100 | Huon Hooke, The Real Review
91/100 | Kasia Sobiesiak, The Wine Front
Red Hut is an exciting new project for long-time Advintage hero Corey Ryan - one of the most celebrated winemakers in Australasia. Fresh with a FIVE STAR and 94pt review from Sam Kim for this 2024 Central Otago Pinot, it's abundantly clear that Red Hut is one to watch.
Crafted from Central Otago’s Lowburn sub-region, this pinot noir is all about vibrant fruit, elegant structure and effortless drinkability. The nose brims with wild cherry, redcurrant and dried thyme, lifted by rose petal and subtle oak spice. On the palate, fine-grained tannins frame layers of dark cherry, plum and savoury earth, with silky texture and impressive depth from extended maceration and whole-bunch inclusion. A year in French oak adds polish and finesse, while a long, complex finish hints at its ageing potential.

The winery writes "The nose opens with lifted aromas of wild cherry, redcurrant and dried thyme, underpinned by hints of rose petal and subtle oak spice. On the palate, fine-grained tannins frame a core of vibrant red fruit, complemented by savoury undertones and a touch of earthiness from the whole bunch inclusion. A cold soak and extended post-ferment maceration have contributed depth of colour and a silky, layered texture, while 12 months in French oak lends structure and finesse. Bottled unfiltered, this wine is pure, expressive and built to evolve gracefully over time."
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit writes "Sweetly ripe with spicy nuances, the fragrant bouquet reveals notes of dark cherry, violet, clove, and toasted almond, followed by a silky smooth palate that's succulent and velvety. Wonderfully structured by finely integrated tannins, making it harmonious and complex with a lengthy, delectable finish. At its best: now to 2030."
Huon Hooke writes “Full-ish purple tinted colour, with a spicy plum and sourcherry bouquet; a top note of strawberry. The palate is full and firm with ample tannins and a bit more stuffing than usually found in pinot at this price. There is concentration and length of palate, the tannins are firm-ish but some food will soon melt them away."
Kasia Sobiesiak writes "This wine is very well put together. It feels honest: it's not the most complex wine on earth, but it knows it. Cherry, mulberry, cranberry, plums, toasted oats, crunchy biscuits, leafy notes with jasmine perfume, crushed twigs. Fruity, perky tannins. Clean winemaking, good fruit, good stuff. Value for sure."
