"Very smart example of the variety" - Huon Hooke, The Real Review
"Deliciously complex style from one of the original albariño vineyards" - Yvonne Lorkin
"Authentically varietal" - Joelle Thomson
Red Hut is an exciting new project for long-time Advintage hero Corey Ryan - one of the most celebrated winemakers in Australasia. This debut release of the Hexton Village Albariño has already made waves, awarded a staggering 98 points and a Double Gold Medal at the New Zealand International Wine Show! A coveted Double Gold means every judge scored the wine of Gold Medal standard from the get-go, and after one glass you'll immediately know why.
This is a wine of immediate impact and enduring finesse. The palate is alive with juicy stone fruit and citrus zest, carried by brilliant acidity and a whisper of coastal salinity. Lees ageing adds a silken creaminess and mid-palate weight, while 25% barrel fermentation layers in texture and depth. One of the most exciting new releases, and definitely one to watch out for. GO LONG.

Huon Hooke, The Real Review writes "Fresh lychees on the nose; a touch of terpene which is part of this variety. Creamy lees and nutty barrel-ferment undertones. Bone-dry but soft, fleshy and rich on the palate. Very smart example of the variety and true to the grape. (25% barrel fermented). 2025–2030”
Yvonne Lorkin writes "For a brand new Albarino, this wine has excellent depth and generosity. Made by Corey Ryan it shows Pacific Queen apples, pear, stacks of citrus, hints of honeysuckle and grilled nectarine make this a deliciously complex style from one of the original Albarino vineyards in Gisborne."
Joelle Thomson writes “Fresh from Gisborne’s coastal maritime climate, this Albariño is a vibrant nod to the grape’s Spanish and Portuguese roots. Bright and tangy, it bursts with citrus flavours, unfolding into a lightly tangy tasting wine that virtually begs for seafood. Medium-bodied and youthful, it’s authentically varietal, carrying the unmistakable zingy taste of Albariño."
The winery writes "On the nose, lifted aromas of white peach, Meyer lemon and sea spray are complemented by subtle floral undertones. The palate is bright and refreshing, with juicy stone fruit and citrus flavours supported by a fine line of acidity and a delicate saline edge. Lees ageing has added a subtle creamy texture and mid-palate weight, without compromising the wine’s crisp, mineral finish. A lively, expressive Albariño with both energy and finesse."
