Chateau Garage is the exciting small batch project of Ollie Powrie - former Head Viticulturist for Villa Maria and well known character on the Hawke's Bay wine scene. Few people have such impeccable grower contacts as Ollie so Chateau Garage was always going to be blessed with great fruit - and these first releases mark an auspicious debut from a 'micro-brand' that is well worth watching.
Perfectly ripe cabernet was sourced from the famed Cornerstone Vineyard and handcrafted into this bespoke, concentrated wine. It's been made in a serious, structured style that deserves cellar time to be seen at its best. Enjoy with your wine aware friends over the coming decade when the occasion calls for something special. RECOMMENDED.

The winery writes "Aromas of fresh chocolate, Bengal tobacco and black olive with an intense palate of wild berries, bramble and seductive tannins."
David Walker Bell, Winefolio, writes "A dark purple colour in the glass. Excellent varietal typicity to the perfume, with cassis, plum and blackberry supported by wet tarseal, black pepper, eucalypt and chocolate. A delicacy as you approach the palate, with balance and a fresh acidity before the underlying power swoops through. A decent grip of tannin in this young wine, providing spine upon which the lush fruit blooms and layers of savoury, spice and some silky texture develop as you go through. The finish has good length and balance."
