91/100 | Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast
If you love big, bold reds, this one delivers. Made from 100% alicante bouchet, a variety famous for its deep colour and powerful flavour, Monte da Caçada is a rich and expressive red from Portugal’s sun-soaked Alentejo region.
Dark berries, plum and black cherry lead the way, layered with hints of vanilla, spice and dark chocolate from time spent in French and American oak. The palate is generous and full-bodied, with plenty of structure, ripe tannins and a long, warming finish.

Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast writes "Big and luscious, this is a dense wine that has ripe tannins and concentrated black fruits. It is powerful with spice, licorice and great warmth."
The winery writes "The Alentejo region benefits from the warm mediterranean climate and clay soils which provide the ideal conditions to produce Touriga Nacional, Alicante Bouschet and Syrah grapes. The grapes were carefully selected and the wine aged for 8 months in French and American oak barrel. This wine displays a deep colour with intense aromas of ripe red fruits complimented with bold notes of spice; it goes magnificently with meat dishes and cheese."
