Wild Earth are a boutique central Otago producer that have carved a name for themselves with their exceptional pinot noir and their supercool cellar door that attracts tourists from far and wide. They have lauded winemaker Jen Parr at the head of their winemaking team so there's no doubt that there is something special going on in every glass of Wild Earth wine.
Vinted from fruit from a number of vineyards throughout the region and with a portion fermented in oak, this is fresh, vibrant wine with a delicious creamy texture from the time spent in oak. You'll find pear, apple and citrus flavours on the palate and a fresh, zingy finish leaves a lasting impression. Highly recommended.
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit writes "Stylish and immediately appealing, the bouquet shows rockmelon, poached pear, jasmine and subtle spice aromas, leading to an elegantly flavoursome palate that's juicy and smooth. It's beautifully harmonious and finely layered with textured mouthfeel, finishing long and comforting."
Cameron Douglas MS writes "Very attractive bouquet filled with scents of fresh green and brown pears, a light floral quality, apple and a sweet quince laced with white spice. On the palate there’s a layer of spice trapped in a coarse silk texture then flavours of white fleshed fruits, mineral and all carried on the back of a sweet acid line. Balanced, well made and ready to drink from 2022 through 2026."
The winery writes "This Pinot Gris has delicious aromas of nashi pear, mandarin peel, fresh lime, white peach and sea salt. This vintage has tremendous energy with flavours of bright citrus, pear and apple, with great length and an “electric” finish. Made with food pairing in mind, this Pinot Gris is deceptively complex and a good candidate for cellaring for up to 10+ years."
