Wild Earth are a boutique central Otago producer that have carved a name for themselves with their exceptional pinot noir and their supercool cellar door that attracts tourists from far and wide. They have lauded winemaker Jen Parr at the head of their winemaking team so there's no doubt that there is something special going on in every glass of Wild Earth wine.
Vinted from fruit from a number of vineyards throughout the region and with a portion fermented in oak, this is fresh, vibrant wine with a delicious creamy texture from the time spent in oak. You'll find pear, apple and citrus flavours on the palate and a fresh, zingy finish leaves a lasting impression. Highly recommended.
Sam Kim writes "Elegant and pristine, the wine shows rockmelon, poached pear, white floral and subtle spice notes on the nose, followed by a succulent palate that’s delightfully ripe and smooth. Supple and fleshy with refreshing mouthfeel, making it immediately appealing."
Cameron Douglas MS writes "Ripe, fruity, varietal and concentrated bouquet with a spicy edge. Youthful, vibrant, spicy and equally fruity on the palate with flavours of white fleshed orchard fruits, pear skin and apple, white pepper and a dried herb, savoury complexity. Acidity and a lees spice along with some fruit tannins add texture and mouthfeel. Fresh, crisp and vibrant."
The winery writes "This Pinot Gris has delicious nashi pear, lime cordial, elderflower, and sea salt on the nose. An extremely mineral and fragrant wine with bright citrus, pear and apple flavours, tremendous persistence, and an “electric” finish. Made with food pairing in mind, this Pinot Gris is deceptively complex and a good candidate for cellaring."
