Village Vineyards are the new hot players on the Havelock wine scene. Dai & Jenny Evans started out as orchardists, producing world class fruit that filled Kiwi luncboxes and market shelves for years until the family decided to move into grapegrowing. After years in France honing his skills, son Rhys has taken the helm as winemaker and champions the 'soft hand' approach to winemaking, crafting exquisite low intervention wines.
This boutique Merlot is soft and generous on the palate, with plush red and black fruit flavours. It's super approachable and will pair well with a wide variety of foods. A lovely drop.
If you're in the Bay, we highly recommend checking out BROTHER, the vineyard's eatery. With food equally as delicious as the wines, this café is a must-do for any foodies visiting Havelock North.

Tasting Notes
The winery writes "Red fruits and blackcurrant are prominent on the nose with a soft, medium bodied and generous palate. The fruit was hand harvested and fermented on skins for 21 days. Rex Jones’ watercolour of our old wool-shed from the Village Orchard days captures the spirit of this wine. With an easy going, unpretentious nature, you will find this single vineyard red extremely approachable."
