The Gimblett is traditionally made from a blend of grape varieties and the 2022 is a lovely blend of predominantly cabernet franc with tempranillo. This is a beautifully structured, dark-fruited red that captures the power and poise of the Gimblett Gravels. Aromas of blackberry, wild herbs and violets lead into a palate layered with dark plum, cocoa, fine spice and graphite-like tannins. Vibrant, elegant and superbly balanced. Always a special wine - regarded by many enthusiasts as one of the the best value Gimblett Gravels blends available in the New Zealand market. Highly recommended.

This superb vintage combined with traditional winemaking techniques delivers beautiful aromatics of ripe cassis, cedar wood, blackberry and tobacco. The wine is silky, complex and full-bodied. Excellent structure allows for graceful development over the next 6 to 8 years. An excellent food match with red meats."
