The winery writes (and we agree with them 100%)" Truly great Chardonnay is an exhilarating drink. When all the elements – ripe fruit, savoury oak, refreshing acidity – are in balance, working together in harmony, the result is a sublime combination of richness, power, sophistication and refinement. This is our vision when making Chardonnay and what we feel we have captured in this single vineyard release."
We say "This is great Hawkes Bay wine. If you can afford to play at this level, you wont be disappointed".
The winery writes "Hand harvested fruit from 10-year-old Clone 95 Chardonnay vines in our “Tin Shed” vineyard on 125 Gimblett Road was gently pressed and the juice fermented in a brand new 500- litre French oak puncheon. Malolactic fermentation was encouraged to soften the acidity and impart further ichness. The wine spent 17 months on yeast lees building further texture and complexity before being racked out of barrel, filtered and bottled at the winery in September 2019 with no fining. Captivating, perfumed aromas of ripe white peaches and nectarines are complemented by complex hints of toasted spices, roasted nuts, vanilla pod and nougat. The wine is rich and full in the mouth yet remains tight and composed with superb persistence and length of flavour. Pristine stone fruit flavours combined with cedary/toasty oak, a gently drying texture and a fine thread of tangy acidity coalesce to a long, satisfying, savoury finish. A charming Chardonnay of class and refinement that will keep you enthralled till the very last drop."
