AN INSTANT CLASSIC
18/20 | Raymond Chan
FIVE STARS 94/100 | Sam Kim
This is glorious example of thoughtful and thoroughly modern Hawkes Bay winemaking. It showcases a medley of exotic fruits framed in a lush palate with glycerol mouthfeel and perfectly pitched, refreshing acidity. This is a such a pretty and attractive style but the ethereal texture and sheer deliciousness on the palate push it straight into the 'must try' category. An instant classic. Very highly recommended.
The 2016 is a blend of 51% Marsanne and 49% Viognier from the Gimblett Gravels, hand-picked and indigenous yeast fermented in a variety of seasoned oak .
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit writes "A delectable blend of two classic Rhone grapes (about half and half), the beautifully perfumed bouquet shows apricot, jasmine, orange peel and yellow flower notes. It is impressively weighted and rounded on the palate, and displays excellent fruit power and purity, wonderfully framed by juicy acidity. The wine is expressive and generous, while remaining structured and perfectly balanced. At its best: now to 2021."
