This 2024 is an opulently styled wine, rich wine with the power and creamy elements to 'wow' the chardonnay die-hards, but those classic characters are balanced by an elegance that tips its hat to the modern New Zealand Chardonnay style. An impressive release. It comes highly recommended.

Tasting Notes
David Walker Bell writes "One of a range of Chardonnays made from their beautiful vineyards on the Purerua Peninsula in the Bay of Islands, in a very good, if low quantity, vintage. A translucent and bright lemon-green in the glass. The bouquet starts with ripe fruit – peach, grapefruit, lemon and pear, but also showing some cashew, vanilla and baking spice. The palate is medium-bodied and juicy, with that citrus leading the way, on a wave of crisp acidity. Dry, with a youthful energy that pulses through the middle, giving good direction and drive. Through the palate things deepen, with some toasty oak, light tannin and silky texture emerging. Good persistence on the finish."
The winery writes "The Boathouse Chardonnay like its namesake is a real crowd pleaser. Poised and elegant, showing aromas of ripe stone fruit and citrus with a mineral complexity. The palate has a fruit-forward expression softened by subtle oak and malolactic fermentation, balanced with juicy acidity on the finish."
