FIVE STARS 93/100 | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit "delightfully drinkable"
91 POINTS | Cameron Douglas MS
Blessed with some of the best grape-growing land in New Zealand's Northland region,The Landing vineyard produces award-winning, sustainable wines. It's also home to world class boutique accomodation that was chosen for President Obama on his 2018 New Zealand visit.
This 2019 is an opulently styled wine, rich wine with the power and creamy elements to 'wow' the Chardonnay die-hards, but those classic characters are balanced by an elegance that tips its hat to the modern New Zealand Chardonnay style. An impressive release. It comes highly recommended.
Cameron Douglas writes "Aromas of yellow fruits from grapefruit to peach, then apple. A layer of fresh raw cashew nut, toastiness and caramel reflect the use of oak. A touch of raw sugar and vanilla complete the bouquet. On the palate - fresh, youthful, tense and fruity. Flavours reflect the nose with yellow orchard fruits and citrus then a swing back to flavours of oak. Fine wood tannins, medium+ acidity and lengthy fresh finish. Balanced and well made."
Sam Kim writes "Wonderfully fruited and inviting, the bouquet shows apricot, grapefruit, vanilla, roasted nut and nougat characters, leading to a beautifully weighted palate that's elegant and flavoursome at the same time, with creamy mouthfeel and bright acidity. Gorgeously composed and delightfully drinkable"
