"Bullnose '24 is a showstopper" - Te Mata Estate.
FIVE STARS 98/100 | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit - "A glorious rendition..."
96/100 | James Suckling - "Very polished and refined tannins..."
After tasting this wine, our team says: Vintage 2024 at Te Mata was all about palate energy from our point of view, and that is what you are seeing here. We thought this was a very pretty and flowing Bullnose - a wine known for its poise and attention to palate detail. It's already looking very sharp, but time will further integrate the tannins and add a creamier element to the vein of acidity on the finish. Lovely wine.
Bullnose sits at the very top table of Hawke's Bay Syrah production. Always a beautifully balanced expression, Bullnose ’24 weaves violet, dark cherry and subtle spice through polished tannins and a vibrant acid line, finishing long, poised and Rhône-inspired. An exceptional 96pt review from James Suckling, one of the most influential wine critics, confirms that something big is happening here and we urge Bullnose disciples and new followers to get on board. Please read the reviews below for more information on this storied release.

James Suckling writes "Wild aromas of game and dark berries with hints of crushed stones, tobacco, flint, five spice powder and hazlenuts. Medium bodied with very polished and refined tannins that caress the palate and give length and verve to the wine. Lovely caressing finish. A ringer for a Northern Rhone."
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit writes "A glorious rendition of the variety, the enticing bouquet presents black and purple fruit purity with nuances of rich floral, warm spice, thyme, and cedar. It’s wonderfully expressed on the palate, with density and power, poise and structure, plush texture, and a supple mouthfeel. Tannins are ultra-fine and in abundance, offering a sturdy grip while remaining velvety and harmonious."
The winery writes "Bright crimson at the edge with a deep purple-black core, Bullnose '24 is wonderfully expressive and fragrant. Aromas unfold in layers of violet, fresh raspberry, ripe plum and dark cherry, wrapped in black olive with subtle spice and pepper. The palate amplifies the depth of fruit and textural intensity, delivering concentrated richness, framed by a vibrant, precise acid line that imparts energy and a bracingly youthful edge. With underlying power and elegance, fine persistent tannins carry the wine through to a long, beautifully driven finish. Bullnose '24 is a showstopper. This is a Bullnose for the ages. Enticing, long and beautifully composed."
