Awatea has long been regarded as one of New Zealand's best value premium red wines and the 2016 will do nothing but enhance that coveted reputation.
Approachable in its youth and clearly referencing 'the modern Hawkes Bay style', the 2016 follows the acclaimed 2014 and 2015 vintages as another plush and even exuberant Awatea. This celebrated Cabernet blend is already drinking well now and will continue to develop in the bottle over the next 8-10 years.
Raymond Chan writes "Deeply concentrated, ripe flavours of blackberries, blackcurrants and darkred plums. Complexing herb, tobacco and aromatic oak detail add complexing interest. A very long, lingering sweet finish, unveiling cassis elements. This is beautifully ripe and balanced."
