FIVE STARS 95/100 | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
94/100 | Bob Campbell MW
92/100 | Cameron Douglas MS
Situated on Felton Road, Te Kano is a Central Otago producer with a fast-growing following. Now entering its ideal drinking window, this excellent 2019 pinot noir shows good sub-regional generosity, on a supple palate complexed with subtle herbal / thyme notes.
Cameron Douglas MS writes "Vibrant, ripe, varietal, fragrant and fruity bouquet with aromas of spiced plums and red cherry, silty schistous soil core and a dried herb savoury complexity. Delicious on the palate with flavours that reflect the bouquet, there’s firm savoury layer enhancing the mouthfeel driven by chalky tannins and acidity."
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit writes "Seductively complex, the wine shows dark cherry, smoked game, warm mushroom and cedar characters with a hint of dried herb nuance. The palate delivers excellent weight and concentration, combined with silky flow and refined texture, finishing superbly long and satisfying."
The winery writes "A supple and complex Pinot Noir with aromas of mocha and bright berry fruits. Generous ripe plum, red berry and cherry flavours, combined with dark savoury notes of dried herb and spice, create a wine that is both expressive and elegant."
