The Loom is celebrated winemaker Rod McDonald's flagship Te Awanga Chardonnay. It is a typically coastal style with citrus and stone-fruit aromas combined with lovely brioche and spice complexity and a touch of minerality on the palate. This small batch, limited release is quite the powerhouse from the 2018 vintage and is sure to impress anyone who enjoys premium Hawkes Bay Chardonnay. It comes with our highest recommendation.
Sam Kim writes "Restrained and sophisticated, this gorgeously composed chardonnay shows lemon peel, flint, grapefruit and almond characters with a hint of vanilla complexity. The palate is impressively concentrated displaying excellent depth and elegant power, classically structured by firm acidity. Super long and graceful."
Bob Campbell writes " Weighty, flavoursome chardonnay with struck flint, mineral, grapefruit, white peach, hazlenut and spicy oak flavours supported by tangy acidity. An attractive wine that promises to develop well with bottle age."
