Tasting Notes
Sherwood Estate started as a husband and wife operation in Waipara in the late 1980s and it's evolved into one of the biggest independent wine operations in the country. They focus on making quality wines with an emphasis on environmental stewardship, having become one of the first Waipara wineries to become accredited with Sustainable Winemaking New Zealand. Their Stratum range is all about fresh, bright, exuberant wines and their 2022 pinot gris release is exactly that. They have used a number of winemaking techniques to build complexity and texture into the wine and the result is a vibrant, wine with pear and ginger spice characters shining through on the palate. An excellent release.
The winery writes "A Pinot Gris filled with great fruit intensity of ginger spice and pear drop aromas, beautifully balanced with a smooth juicy finish. A wine to be enjoyed on any occasion."
