2021 was an exceptional red wine vintage in Hawke's Bay and this rich, ripe release was our top pick from a recent evaluative tasting of Sacred Hill's much-loved Reserve range. We were expecting a relatively simple, honest wine but this classic blend came fully loaded with savoury palate weight and good structure in the mouth. Those dark fruit flavours are backed up by warm spice notes and grippy tannins and after one sip, you'll know what we know. This little gem may be priced at $18.99 now, but it sure doesn't taste like it!
It's sensational value. You simply can't go wrong here.
The winery writes "The wine exhibits a rich garnet colour. Complex on the nose, aromas of black cherry and Christmas cake are backed by leather, tobacco, baking spices and cocoa. The palate is rich flowing superbly through to supporting grainy tannins."
