A classic Barossa blend with Rockford’s signature stamp of authenticity and heritage. The 2021 Moppa Springs GSM champions Grenache, Mataro, and Shiraz - three varietals that thrive in the arid heart of the Barossa, brought together here in seamless, savoury harmony.
Rockford keeps things old-school in all the best ways. Fruit is gently forked into their original 1880s Bagshaw de-stemmer, then fermented in traditional open slate tanks. The 1890s Robinson basket press finishes the job - slowly extracting every drop of flavour and texture before the components are matured in seasoned oak casks. The resulting wine is beautifully layered and expressive. The nose is rich and inviting, with a pull of red and dark berries, tobacco, and a whisper of spice. The palate follows through with plush fruit, bitter chocolate, and a savoury edge that gives the wine real presence. Fine-grained tannins and a long, leisurely finish round it out. Delicious now, but will only get better with a few more years in the cellar.

Opens with lifted aromas of wild raspberry, dried herbs and clove. On the palate, it’s supple and savoury, with layers of juicy redcurrant, baked earth, and warm spice. There’s a gentle rusticity here balanced by fine, chalky tannins and a flicker of acidity that keeps everything fresh and focused.
