93 POINTS 'Excellent' | Cameron Douglas MS
As a premium, boutique producer, Q's sales strategy has always been to focus on the top tier of our nation's white table cloth restaurants and this elite wine has long been a wine list staple in many of New Zealand's most revered dining rooms.
This is luscious single vineyard wine from the Waitaki Valley in North Otago; a dry, refreshing and textural expression. Expect layers of elegant pear and quince characters underpinned by beautifully fresh acidity. It's a style that works wonderfully as an aperitif, but is magical with food as its fine dining reputation suggests.
If you're a fan of premium South Island Pinot Gris, it's time for you to smell the coffee. The previous vintage of this premium wine was a smash hit with our pinot gris fans and the reorder rate was through the roof. Don't miss your chance to get your hands on this very special wine.
Candice Chow, Raymond Chan Wine Reviews writes "Bright, pale yellow with a slightly green hue. The nose is full and expressive, and the aromas of Nashi pear are entwined with white floral, cinnamon and ginger. Medium-bodied, dry-ish to taste, aromas of Nashi pear and yellow apple enliven by ginger, cinnamon and rich white floral. The fruit is generous and expressive, supported by vibrant acidity, and a touch of sweetness provides balance. The oily mouthfeel with chalky minerals and spicy finish added interest. This is an expressive Pinot Gris with voluminous aromas of pear, floral and spice on a smooth, oily mouthfeel."
Cameron Douglas MS writes "Complex, pure, ripe and enticing bouquet with aromas of spicy pear, apple and quince. Lush satin texture touches the palate with core fruit flavours of white nectarine and citrus, pear and apple then a touch of quince. Acidity and warming alcohol add breadth and weight as well as contrast to the fruit."
The winery writes "A chalky line and refreshing acidity carry crunchy orchard fruit and floral with elegance, lends an appetizing palate."
