Pyramid Valley are a boutique producer that focus on creating premium biodynamic wines from their vineyards in North Canterbury and Central Otago. Their pinot noir releases are the 'jewel in the crown' of the Pyramid Valley line up and we're thrilled to have them in store.
This 2018 Central Otago Pinot Noir is medium-bodied and silky with red berry flavours and spicy notes. It's a very classy rendition, with soft tannins and subtle acidity rounding out the package. Stunning.
Christina Pickard, Wine Enthusiast writes "It's lightweight but not without substance or layers. Gentle berry notes mingle with savory, mushroom and soy sauce nuances. It really comes to life on the palate, which is both vivacious and structured, the chalky tannins and crunchy acidity jiving with juicy, silky fruit. Elegant, poised and highly drinkable. Drink now and over the next five to eight years."
Cameron Douglas MS writes "From the Manata Estate in the Lowburn Valley - aromas and personality are unmistakably Central Otago and Pinot Noir with scents of dark cherry and whispers of savoury thyme, a mix of new and seasoned barrel then old barren stony soils. On the palate - fresh, fine and fleshy with a core of light red berry fruit flavours, polished tannins and a youthful acid-line back bone and flavours that mirror the nose. Lengthy finish with a heart of fruit, red flowers and pinosity not to mention well made."
The winery writes "Fragrant blackberry and raspberry with hints of liquorice, black pepper and clove. Sweet red plum, cherry and spice. Richly textured with lovely minerality. Complex with a long and silky sweet berry finish."
