A CENTRAL OTAGO STAR IS BORN
RICH & REWARDING PINOT FROM BOUTIQUE PRODUCER
FIVE STARS 94/100 | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit - "Juicy fruit intensity with silky texture and finely infused tannins"
'Premium' | Cameron Douglas MS
This is only Penkridge Farm's fifth vintage, but with their incredible quality of wines, anyone would think they have been around much longer. We worked hard to secure this pinot under the $30 mark, and we’re thrilled to be able to offer a wine of this quality at this price.
Crafted by superstar winemaker Matt Connell, the Penkridge Farm Pinot Noir 2023 is a shining example of just how good Central Otago Pinot can be. As the previous winemaker at Akarua, Matt brings a wealth of winemaking experience to the party and this 2023 release is an elegantly powerful pinot with great concentration and approachability. It's rich, rewarding and totally mouthfilling, commanding attention from the very first sip. Obvious quality here and a fantastic buy for fans of Central Otago Pinot.

Sam Kim, Wine Orbit writes "Pristine and elegantly expressed, the bouquet shows dark plum, cherry, floral, clove, and toasted almond characters. The palate delivers juicy fruit intensity with silky texture and finely infused tannins, making it beautifully harmonious and lingering. At its best: now to 2033."
Cameron Douglas MS writes "A bright, fresh, fruity and varietal impact as the wine is poured, then as it relaxes in glass the aromas and flavours of dark berries and plums, a touch of savoury spices and dark roses begin to unfold. Taut and dry with a varietal fruit centric palate framed by some chalky textured tannins and backbone of acidity. Well made, youthful and very bright with best drinking from late 2025 through 2030+."
Stephen Wong MW, The Real Review writes "Purple fruit with violets on the nose lead to a very primary, concentrated palate of plum and wild blackberry flavours soaked into its relatively firm, velvety tannins and noticeable wood."
The winery writes "Dark cherry and plum aromas, medium bodied with a soft and juicy texture."
