***ONE OF THE GREAT VALUE PREMIUM HAWKE'S BAY REDS***
FIVE STARS 95/100 | Bob Campbell MW
94/100 'Excellent' | Cameron Douglas MS
Long recognised as one of the very best buys amongst the premium Hawke's Bay 'Bordeaux blends', Paritua Red is a powerfully fruited cabernet dominant wine, with silken mouthfeel and wonderful mid-palate drive. 2020 was an excellent vintage in the Bay and this lovely wine shines with the bounty of that great growing season.
Expect lots of complexity and detail in the glass and expect to wish you'd ordered a few more bottles. It comes very highly recommended.
Vinted from a blend of 44% merlot, 40% cabernet sauvignon and 16% cabernet franc.
Cameron Douglas MS writes "Dark core of purple and ruby hues with a fuchsia rim and some colour stained tears lead to a bouquet of concentration and power with blackberry and dark plum, barrel spices of clove and vanilla, iron-or soil and hard stone soil scents, violet and synergies of complexity from all that bouquet shows. A youthful and textured wine touches the palate first with a mixed berry flavour, firm tannins and acid line. As the wine begins to open out in glass the supple side begins to show with violets and plums then baking spices and toasty barrel highlights."
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit writes "Seductively complex and enticing, the wine shows dark fruit richness, smoked game, vanillin oak, dried herb and potpourri aromas, leading to a powerfully concentrated palate delivering outstanding weight and depth. Wonderfully complemented by plush texture and layers of grainy tannins, finishing impressively long and velvety."
