ORGANIC, SOFT & SUPPLE CENTRAL OTAGO PINOT FROM EXCELLENT BOUTIQUE PRODUCER
GOLD MEDAL | NZ Organic Wine Awards 2024
93/100 'Excellent' | Cameron Douglas MS
93/100 | James Suckling
What a deal this is! A Gold Medal and two 93pt scores should tell you all you need to know, but it will be abundantly clear from your first taste that this premium Central Otago release was not meant to sell for $19.99!
This pinot is beautifully fruit driven with a lot going on in the glass, yet remains totally approachable and more-ish. Sweetly fruited and spicy on the nose, there's an abundance of dark cherry and roasted nut aromas flowing through to a totally pleasing palate. Soft and supple, this is on the savoury side of the flavour spectrum with dark, serious fruits on the palate. It has received the same care and attention in the winery as the winery's single vineyard, premium releases, resulting in a wine that delivers in all aspects.
Please note: This wine is being sold to you as a 'Mystery deal' to protect the producer's investment in this. When you order, the wine will be delivered to you under its normal label; all will be revealed when it lands at your door. Cameron Douglas MS writes "Delicious and in a perfect drinking window showcasing a bouquet of roses and red apple, lots of cherry and some dried herb and savoury spice qualities. Classically a lighter weighted expression with core flavours of stone and clay, red berry fruits and a delicate floral quality. A natural mineral earth and light wood smoke layer adds complexity and charm. Best drinking from late 2025 through 2029."
