4.5 STARS 18/20 | Raymond Chan
Named in memory of the winemaker’s grandmother Elspeth Preston, this premium release is a boldy flavoured, opulent Merlot from one of the truly great Hawkes Bay vineyards. It's a concentrated style with plenty of tannin and structure and promises a long life in the cellar should you choose to put some down.
The winery writes "This outstanding Merlot, from an exceptional vintage, shows great poise, exuding intense notes of ripened blackcurrant and spicy Black Doris plums, in harmony with silky smooth tannins and a wonderful freshness yielding a persistently long mocha finish. Ready for immediate enjoyment, it will also cellar gracefully to reward longer term enjoyment."
