4.5 STARS 18/20 | Raymond Chan
Named in memory of the winemaker’s grandmother Elspeth Preston, this premium release is a boldy flavoured, opulent Merlot from one of the truly great Hawkes Bay vineyards. It's a concentrated style with plenty of tannin and structure and promises a long life in the cellar should you choose to put some down.
The winery writes: "This outstanding Merlot, from an exceptional vintage, shows great poise, exuding intense notes of ripened blackcurrant and spicy Black Doris plums, in harmony with silky smooth tannins and a wonderful freshness yielding a persistently long mocha finish. Ready for immediate enjoyment, it will also cellar gracefully to reward longer term enjoyment."
