QUALITY WINE FROM ONE OF THE HOTTEST PINOT NOIR PRODUCERS IN THE GAME
91/100 'Premium' | Cameron Douglas MS - "Refreshing and delicious"
90/100 | Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review
90/100 | CWSA 2025
Named after unique Brassknocker soils which the McArthur Ridge vineyard is planted in, this is a fine example of Central Pinot from a producer who has been making a huge name for themselves in recent years. This may be their 'entry level' pinot release, but there is nothing entry level about this wine. The previous vintage scored a huge accolade - winning the Trophy for Top New Zealand Pinot Noir at the International Wine Challenge this year. The IWC is one of the world's biggest wine shows, and receiving the this trophy is an absolutely tremendous achievement.
Still very youthful, it has generous, ripe cherry, plum and spice flavours, good complexity, and the lasting impression is very balanced and complete. Cellar over the coming 3-5 years to see a deeper broodiness emerge.

Cameron Douglas MS writes "A vibrant and intense bouquet of ripe red berry fruits, red apple skin and dried raspberry powder. Bright, fruity and refreshing on the palate, a dry wine with a core of boysenberry and red cherry flavours, raspberry jam and red flowers. Fine tannins from fruit then some barrel, a crisp acid line vibrant mouthfeel present a wine ready to drink from 2026 through 2030. Refreshing and delicious."
Stephen Wong MW writes "Perfumed nose with sweet red berry hemmed by some light flinty reduction, soaring floral notes and a touch of tart cherry. Precise and clear fruit is framed by light, mouth-coating, fine tannins right to the back, providing some structure for the primary cherry fruit."
The winery writes "Brassknocker Pinot Noir displays beautiful aromatics of dark plum and red fruits of the forest. The palate shows wonderful balance and purity, with hints of mocha lifting delivery of a delicious finish. This wine is fantastic drinking now and we expect it to reward careful cellaring for another 5-7 years."

Brassknocker Pinot noir
First time drinking this pinot noir and found it very pleasant to share with friends. It is not a deep full bodied pinot noir but a subtle and easy to drink everyday pinot noir. Gets better the more you drink it. Was great with nibbles and little mince pies. Will look for this to have again.
