92/100 'Premium' | Cameron Douglas MS
4.5 Stars | Yvonne Lorkin
Benchmark syrah displaying dark berries characters with hints of spice and vanilla. If you enjoy juicy Hawke's Bay Syrah, this is brilliant buying from the team that formerly made the Morton Estate range of wines.

Cameron Douglas MS writes "Varietal and nicely intense bouquet with scents of dark raspberry and plums, there's a mix of violets and steely earthy qualities, clay soils and spices from some newish oak. Dry, fleshy, juicy, salivating and tasty. A wine beginning to show some development yet maintains a youthful energy with ripe fruits, some licorice and peppery spice, a backbone of acidity and smoky oak qualities."
Yvonne Lorkin writes "From the ‘holy trinity’ of Hawke’s Bay vintages (2019, 2020, 2021) this Syrah is stacked with classic florals, violets, red roses, plum blossom and buckets of cracked pepper and smoky oak. Vibrant and energetic, it dunks your taste buds into dark berryfruit and then dusts them with baking spices and pepper. Solidly structured, the tannins have a fine, furry feeling to them, the acidity is fresh and frisky, and the team at Leveret are understandably rather proud of what they’ve achieved."
