92/100 | David Walker Bell, Wine Folio
Fresh, bright and seriously easy to enjoy, the Hopesgrove Cumulus White Blend 2023 brings together 80% chardonnay and 20% viognier for a beautifully balanced, fruit-forward style.
You’ll find notes of citrus, white peach and a gentle hint of florals, thanks to the viognier, while the chardonnay keeps everything nicely rounded and smooth. On the palate, it’s juicy and refreshing with a soft texture and a light mineral finish.
An easy-drinking white that still has a bit of interest - perfect with fresh salads, seafood, or simply chilled and poured on a warm afternoon.

David Walker Bell, Wine Folio writes "A revisit of a wine that I first tasted back in 2024 – ‘Cumulus’ is a white wine made from a blend of two varietals – 80% Chardonnay and 20% Viognier. A pale lemon-green colour in the glass. The aromas are very appealing, taking a little from both varieties, with the Chardonnay naturally dominating. There is a peppery, seedy element that is intriguing, and adds to the bright citrus, apricot and peach fruit flavours, as well as an elderflower floral note. I don’t see much oak influence, with the structure more reliant on the buoyant acidity and an ‘al dente’ prickle of fruit tannin to set the tone. Then there is the key texture that swells through the palate – plush and succulent. It would be a great food wine and I like it just as much as I did on release."
