97/100 | Luca Maroni
The luxurious reverse taper bottles are a clue that something special is going on here, and this Southern Italian blend of 50% negroamaro and 50% primitivo took our breath away when we evaluated it. Crafted using the traditional appassimento method where fruit is lightly sundried to create extra depth, concentration and intensity, this is absolutely delicious release. Plush and generous, it is very full bodied for Italian red wine with soft rounded fruit characters and wonderfully supple mouthfeel.
Another powerhouse example of modern Italian winemaking from the excellent Geografico cooperative. Put a bottle on the table and watch everyone hustle for a second glass.

The distributor writes "In the glass, it shows a deep red hue with alluring aromas of dark berries, cherry, a hint of strawberry, and subtle notes of spice, raisin, and vanilla. The palate is intense, brimming with lush fruit, yet balanced and smooth. Full-bodied with ripe tannins, it offers a lingering finish filled with intriguing nuances—an elegantly crafted Appassimento."
