91/100 | Wine Enthusiast
The Francis Ford Coppola Winery is an important Californian producer founded by the award-winning filmmaker, famous for directing The Godfather trilogy and Apocalypse Now. It's safe to say that the winery has gained icon status in the USA market with the Diamond Collection especially popular with discerning purchasers. Director’s Cut is all about creative control, and this Chardonnay is the winemaker’s final edit.
Aged for 9 months in French oak (35% new barrels), this Chardonnay strikes a beautiful balance between freshness and finesse, with subtle oak influence adding depth without stealing the spotlight.
The label wraparound design is inspired by a Zoetrope, one of the earliest motion-picture devices, and is a replica from Francis Ford Coppola’s personal Zoetrope collection - a perfect nod to cinema history meeting winemaking artistry.

Jim Gordon, Wine Enthusiast writes "Hard to beat this wine for pure fruit richness, as it ladles out Anjou pears, yellow peaches and a dollop of pineapple, all lazing in a smooth texture and full body. While mouthfilling and ripe, the wine has just enough tropical fruit acidity behind it for good balance."
