This is the fourth release of Petane’s beloved Pet Nat, affectionately named after winemaker Phil’s son, Jimmy - “The White Flash”, whose blonde hair once zipped through the vineyard rows as the team picked grapes before the cyclone. When he wasn’t on his bike or racing between vines, Jimmy was drawing - and it’s his artwork you’ll find on the label, too.
Made from handpicked, organically grown Chardonnay from the Osawa Vineyard in Hawke’s Bay’s Mangatahi Valley, White Flash 2024 is a vibrant, naturally sparkling wine that’s as lively and full of character as its namesake. Bursting with fresh citrus, crunchy orchard fruit and a subtle yeasty edge, it’s lightly cloudy, refreshingly dry and joyfully expressive. Best served really cold.

Tasting Notes
The nose bursts with lifted citrus blossom, green apple skin, and juicy white peach, layered over subtle brioche and a whisper of wild ferment funk. On the palate it’s bright and zesty, with tangy lemon and crisp pear flavours carried by a fine, gentle fizz. There’s a lovely creamy texture from time on lees, balanced by a clean, saline edge that keeps everything refreshing and moreish.
